Guest Tips Here

Hi friends,

As I've always believed in the power of team-work and collective wisdom, I'm introducing this thread which is open to all the visitors to this site. I have always tried to incorporate good suggestions into my site. So all of you are welcome to post your latest stock tips here and discuss them amongst you.

To just give a few pointers to those of you who are new in the stock markets, here are a few factors which make stocks go up. A stock may go up if one or more of the following factors hold true for it:

1) If it is fundamentally sound and posting good profits consistently and if it has a low PE as compared to its peers.

2) If it is technically on the verge of an upward breakout or is in a confirmed uptrend. Learn to read the technical charts to be able to predict price movements effectively.

3) If there is some Corporate Action coming up in a stock like a bonus or a stock split or a merger/demerger, for example.

4) If the stock is in news and if some big operators/fund houses/brokerages have taken position in it.

5) A combination of all the above factors will make a stock simply irresistible and then one should not hesitate to go ahead and buy.

Happy blogging and Cheers!

PS: A link for posting tips for guests was provided earlier also (see the link GUEST STOCK TIPS on the right side of the main page), but very few people are using it. Some of the tips posted there by guests have also risen very sharply over the last few months. Instead of scattering your tips all over this site, it is much better to centralize all guest stock tips at one place for more convenience.

  3. Hi Navin,
    Good day!
Could you please let us know how to calculate next 5% of a given stock.

For example: Xpro had a closing price of 52.2 (NSE) and 52.6 (BSE) on 1/1/2008. It has CircuitBreakers of +/-5%.
    thus making 52.2 * 1.05=54.81 in NSE and 52.6 * 1.05= 55.23 in BSE
I put an order for 54.8 (NSE) and 55.25 (BSE)
suprisingly, one became short(NSE) and the other (BSE)became excess of 5%.
NSE went for 54.85 and BSE went for 55.2
As we are unable to calculate exact figure, thus missing several chances.
Your suggestion on this is highly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Raghu - Melbourne

  5. Hello SuperStar,
How do you find Rohit Ferrotech and Noida toll Bridge. Although both are at all time high, i am not sure if to buy now or not although both seems to be strong.
Regarding Noida toll, if they get the permission for development of empty land around toll bridge, this will shoot up to 150+.
    Your suggestions are required.

  12. Hi Santhosh,

Indus Networks Net profit for Sept qtr 2007 fell as compared to last year. I would say Cybermate Infotek is a much better bet than Indus Networks.

    Hi Prashant,

I would book profits in Noida Toll around 100-110 levels.

    Hi Raghu,

Good question. In NSE the quotes are rounded off to the nearest five paise. In BSE there is no such rounding off. For example, if a stock's price after adding Upper circuit limit comes to 15.39, then in NSE it will be rounded off to 15.40 while it may remain 15.39 on the BSE.

    Hi Ambrish,

In Rohit Ferro one can keep a Stop Loss of 102 and hold if you already have it. If you are a risk-taker you may even buy for a target of 127.
My views on Noida Toll already given.

    Hi Sudiprc,

BSEL Infra is one of the cheapest infra stocks and was on my radar since 60. I think it can be bought for long term even at current levels.

    Raziv,

FDC is a HOLD and if it goes another 10-20% up, then convert to Aurobindo Pharma or Unichem Labs at cmp.

    Hi Ana,
Banks and the financial sector as a whole can see good upside in 2008.

    Hi Patel,
Ram can be held at current levels with a target of 30.

    Cheers!

  16. Dear Naveen,
    Good day.
Thanks for the clarification regarding UC & LC price calculation.
Referring to NO-ROUNDING off in BSE, does this applicable to all type of stoks ( i.e A,B1,B2S,T,TS,Z) or only for small stocks?

For example, in BSE, 'Himachal Futu Communcation' always has rounding off & Cybermate has no rounding off.

Appreciate if you could shed some light on this as well.
Thanks a lot for all your valuable suggestions and clarification Navin.

    Cheers,

  17. whts ur take on wipro frm a 2 to 3 weeks perspective..

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Naveen and Others!

This is for all those who want to predict the opening price assuming it has closed in upper circuit.

Let me take an example of CYBERMATE.( our ultimate stock )

    * First and foremost it is not always 5 % ( though on equity master it shows as 5 %) in reality it may be 4.97% or 4.98. In case of it is cybermate it is 4.97%.

So all those who want to buy cyber mate today add 4.97% to yesterday's closing price.

    14.66 (closing price) + .728 (4.97 % of 14.66) = 15.38

    Place a buy at 15.38

Now comes the big question, where can i get the exact upper cirucit limit in %.
Rediff.com would give you this. Under business tab, you can trace the graph.

    * This holds good only in case where circuilt limit is constant. There are
few stocks where in the upper circuilt limit varies by .1% at times.

All the best for your BUY CALLS

*** NAVIN Thanks for creating this Space for Guest Tips and general dicussions.

    Thanks

Looks like i goofed up something.
here is the details with facts and figures. I got stock price of cybermate from rediff.com

    28th dec 12.08
    29th dec 12.68
    31st dec 13.31
    1st jan 13.97
    2nd jan 14.66
3rd jan -15.388 (as the third digit after decimal point is more then 5 it is rounded to 15.39)

    4th jan(tomorrow) - assuming its up again by 4.97 % =16.15

    Thanks

  22. Hi Navin,
I'm new to investment.. Can you please advice me on bellary steel & Bhagwati gas.. both stocks are closing in UC(~5%) within 5 mins of market opening..Can you explain the reasoning behind these growths and if possible the targets..are we looking at potential multi baggers here?

You've gotta a great site going on here..Wish you loads a prosperity for the years to come..
    Your Fan,

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Vijay
    Sub: Reg UC-LC calculation.
Your reason doesn't seems to be correct.
As per my knowledge stocks have limits of +/-5%,+/-10%+/-20% and no limts.
I don't think there is anything like 4.87,4.98,4.97,5.02,5.01 etc.
These fractions will happen during NEAREST 5 PAISE ROUNDOFF.
    The puzzle here is,
1.How to exactly claculate the next UC level for a given stock.

The same stock sometimes may go +/- 20%, then to +/-10%, then to +/-5% (Eg: IKF Technology)
    2. Some has nearest 5 cents rounding off and some don't have. How to know, which are the stcoks that have round off and vice versa.

I hope our SUPERSTAR will post more accurate details about this, as this 'question' is confusing others aswell.

    Thanks in advance Navin!

    Cheers,
    Raghu

  34. Hi Hemantp,

You can hold KS Oils for some more time. I would book profits even at 125-130.
Reliance Power IPO is a no brainer. It is a given that due to deferred payment plan, the ipo will be oversubscribed.

    Hi Jig,

My views are neutral on Wipro. Why would anyone buy a Wipro, when there are so many other better choices available in the IT sector.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Springrolls,
Telecom is one of the sectors mentioned by me in my New Year message. Stocks like HFCL and ITI are already running. You can ride the momentum for as long as it lasts if you have a risk taking appetite.

    Hi Santosh,
I would book profits in Almondz on another 10-15% rise from here.
I wouldn't buy Moving Picture for its fundamentals. But you can ride the momentum if you want.
I don't have any view on Silverline.

    Hi Amit,
I would book profits in HFCL Infotel. HFCL might be a better bet than HFCL Infotel comparatively.

    Hi Hardikpndy.
Elgitread's latest financials are not available on the exchange, so I cannot comment on it.

Regarding placing order on Cybermate Infotek, just place your order when the market opens tomorrow at 16.15. If you are among the first in the buyers' queue you may get it.

    Hi Kaushal,
I would not buy either GTL Infra or Sterlite tech at current price.

    Hi Raziv,
Profit booking can be done in Hind Oil.

    Hi Anant,
I would have shifted from Gupta Synth at 75 levels to Cybermate Infotek.

    Cheers!

PS: Friends, please don't wait for me to give all the answers to your queries. You can answer each other also. I am finding it increasingly difficult to find the time.

You are Guru in this game. But I would suggest the following two (which might already have been suggested by you earlier)
1 IDFC (Safe multi bagger for the future)
    2. I would continue to accumulate South Asian Petrochem another Superstar GEM as it looks to have continuous upside.
    2. Great offshore (I compared the Great offshore (10 Rs. FV.currently at 1000) with Aban offshore (2 Rs. FV @4000 range). Great offshore has better EPS and PE. So Great offshore has much upside in the coming year. Super star pl. correct me if my observations are wrong.

  69. Hi Sivaaa,
MTNL is a rank underperformer stock in the entire bull market of the last three years. Fundamentally, I am not very enthusiastic on that stock. But if some news comes.....maybe it can go up. There have been some talks of some land development in some suburbs of Mumbai. Technically, it faces a lot of resistence in the 215-220 zone. MTNL will become technically bullish only after a few closes above 225. You can maintain a stop loss of 202.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hi Abhishek,

There has been a lot of Fund interest in Marg Const lately. I think it is under a technical correction and can go upto your target. You can continue to hold with a SL of 510.

Hindustan Dorr is an Engineering/Turnkey Projects company which is in market fancy. Although the company is doing well, the valuations look stretched for a fresh entry.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hi Docman,
I would have booked profits in all three. Tourism Finance maybe you can hold a little longer as long as it keeps going up. Book profit on first weakness.

    Hi Vaibhav,
Dollex it at a very crucial point, chartically. You can either hold it with a Stop Loss of 92 and hope to regain your cost price OR you can immediately switch to Cybermate Infotek which will give comparatively better returns.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hi Amol,

There has been a renewed interest in low priced IT stocks in recent times, maybe that's why BITS is also going up. Hold Rolta, convert RPG Cable into Cybermate Infotek, Hold Patels Air.

    Hi Achilles,
Vijay is right. Quantity of your order is not a criteria for priority of execution. You just have to be early in the queue. Post your order at 9:55 AM tomorrow at 16.95.

    Cheers!

  73. Hi lg,
You bought Supreme Petro at a very high price. The odds are not in favor of your making profits in this stock in the short term. I had recommended a Buy on Supreme Petro around a price of 25 and it rallied to nearly 52 after that where profit booking should have been done. You can switch from Supreme petro to Cybermate Info immediately.

    Hi Rajeev,
I don't track Deccan Goldmines and neither do I have any information on it.

    Hi Siva,
Rama Paper is a low PE stock. Not much downside seen in it, but it can be a slow mover. You can hold it if you have a long term view.

    Hi Sandy,
The fundamentals of T.Spiritual are not great. You can hold it if you are holding as long as the tide turns but I would not recommend for fresh buying.

  75. Hi Paddy (Venu),

SA Petro has been recommended by me earlier around 24 levels with target of 50 plus. So no problem with holding that stock.
Great Offshore is also doing quite well so you can hold that too.
But in IDFC, although the company is good, the valuations look a bit stretched to me.

    Hi Krunal,
Chartered Capital has posted fantastic Sept qtr results, so the stock's future looks good. You can continue to hold that stock.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hi Kriti,
I hope my answer to Venu(paddy) would have answered your question too. SA Petro's fundamentals are improving and it can be held for long term also. For short term also you can still ride the stock as long as it is trading strong.

  85. Hi Manjunath,

Mrotek is moving with the IT pack. Ride it as long as it is strong but exit on first signs of weakness. Fundamentals don't support the the price.

    Hi Rajeev,
IQMS seems to be a turnaround story. You can ride it as long as it stays strong. KPIT is at best a hold, I don't see much upside. HCL tech is a hold according to me. Finolex Ind was recommended by me around 75 levels on moneycontrol. It has recently seen high of 126. I am not sure if fresh buying can be done at current level.

    Hi Raj,
I have already answered about Pochiraju in a reply to another query. You entered at a price when smart people would have booked profit. I would switch from it to Cybermate Infotek immediately. But you will have to be lucky to get Cybermate Infotek.

    Cheers!

  93. Hi. Investors would do well to look at Surya Pharma (BSE: 532516 | NSE: SURYAPHARM ) This share is quoting at about 4 PE of next year's EPS.

Given high growth this stock has to enjoy min PE of 10. The company is a leading producer of menthol and Antihistamines. Probably safest Pharma stock and can easily reach 250 soon.Cheers!

    Hi Abhishek,
I recommended Jayaswal Neco around 30 levels and since then it has more than doubled. I reckon it can make more money for patient investors who are in it for the long term.

    Hi Santosh,
I would avoid MSP at current levels. Never heard of a stock called H S India.

  116. Hi Realvalue,
Which stock are you talking about? You forgot to give the name of the stock.

    Hi Cancermoney,
I would avoid Ginni at present. Choose your small cap stocks carefully and go for the ones which give you the best value for money.

    Hi Santhosh,
I have been tracking Petronet from 60 levels with a positive outlook. At present price it is at best a Hold. Long term prospects are good but in the short term don't expect much gains.
RNRL has had a fantastic run from 30 levels to the present 241 levels. It is a high risk high reward kind of stock which can still go a lot higher if you have the risk appetite, but during short term it may fall also.

HMT again belongs to the same risky stocks category. I am not comfortable buying it at current levels.

    Cheers!

  119. Hi Vivek,
I remember having answered a query on Walchandnagar recently. It is a Hold with a SL of 8000. MRF is also a Hold. PTC one can buy on dips with a long term view. CBOP I will avoid at current levels. Nissan Copper one can hold with Long term view.

    Cheers!

  120. Hi Raja,
Nocil had gone up from 40 to 65 plus recently on rumors of Reliance takeover. But the company has categorically denied it, which is why the stock is back in Lower Circuits. Jai Corp I would sell at present levels. Parsoli is also a sell.BPL also I would sell on the first sign of weakness.

    Hi Pam,
Sundaram Clayton is currently trading at a PE of close to 20 which I think is fair. It is at best a Hold according to me. You can learn more about PE ratios from some good books on investing in the stock markets or from articles written on the internet. These days you can google for anything under the Sun and even beyond it! ;)

    Cheers!

  121. Hi Akshaya Kumar,
The current correction in the overall market is a Buying Opportunity in low PE and high growth stocks like Cybermate Infotek. At the same time, one should exit from shares which went up without any solid fundamentals and purely on momentum and rumors.

    Cheers!

  123. Hi Rohit/Karan,
I have been tracking Gremach since 180 and Himalya since 14 levels. Both are stocks with good future prospects and can be bought on dips. Himalya has good support around 22-24 levels. Bartronics also is performing well, but valuations are on the higher side, so one can wait for corrections in that. Opto circuits I would avoid since I think it is fairly valued without much immediate upside.

    Cheers!

Alpa labs is a new stock with not much historic data available, but it can be said that it is also a Hold.

About your comment about Circuit limits, I quote you "I don't think there is anything like 4.87,4.98,4.97,5.02,5.01 etc.
These fractions will happen during NEAREST 5 PAISE ROUNDOFF."

What you say is true only for NSE. There the prices are rounded off to the nearest 5 paise. In BSE, however, things are different. As you can see for yourself, today's price of Cybermate Infotek is 18.67

    Hi Santhosh,
I had advised profit booking in Gufic around the highs of 27. It is your mistake if you didn't sell then. All the other stocks you are holding are also low priced stocks which are currently in the red. You could book profits in all.

    Hi Manu,

Your question has been answered too with the above.

    Hi Santhosh,

    Elgi Equip is a hold.

    Hi Vipin,

Book value of a stock is the Net Asset Value of that company per share. If the BV of a share is more than the prevailing stock price, then in most cases it can be said that the stock price is cheap and can be bought. But there can be exceptions to this general rule.

  161. Hi Corruption free India,
Exit from Pentasoft. Maintain a stop loss of 70 on Arvind Mills.

    Hi Sumit,
Out of the three, I'll go with TTML only at cmp.

    Hi Vipin,
I think I had told earlier also that there is no financial data available on SVC on the exchange, so can't comment on that.
Keep a Stop Loss of 4.5 on Paras

    Cheers!

  164. Dear Superstar,
I have posted a query under the bloghead of Aurobindo Pharma. But you must be busy answering queries in your current bloghead and it went unanswered. So I am posting it here. Will I continue to hold Aurobindo Pharma ? It is constantly loosing ground from 550 and you know now it is around 480.What is the story behind convertible shares hitting the market? Are the fundamentals not attractive to the market? Please reply.
Lastly, is CBOP a good bet in this time? Lot of bulk deals are happening of late.
    Thanks in advance

  165. Dear Superstar
Please bring in some hope about Aurobindo Pharma. Going down since 563. Breached 52-weeks low of 485. How long shall we hold?
Please also shed some light about CBOP.
    Thanks in advance

  171. Hi Hotchoconuts,
I have absolutely no idea why English Ind Clay is moving the way it is. Its fundamentals don't justify the current price. The company is in the mining and minerals space.....maybe they have found a goldmine?? ;)

    Hi ga,
You can average your cost price in Cybermate Infotek on every dip. I will myself buy more on Monday if I get the chance.

    Hi gbab,
Your query has been answered on the Aurobindo board. Sorry for the delay.

    Hi Vipin,
I had advised profit booking in Kaashyam some days ago. Maars is a sell too.

    Hi Vishnu,
Fundamentals of Compulearn don't justify the current share price. Is there something more in that stock than meets the eye? I don't know...but I will stay away.

    Hi Biju,
I like Tatatele service out of the two. I don't like Centurion Bank of Punjab at current levels.

    Cheers!

  172. Hi Vini and Hardik,
Com Disk seems to be doing pretty good for itself and that share can be bought on dips.

kindly give your precious suggestion on kohinoor broadband.
    heard of tournaround story.

  174. hi superstar,
lets hope market will open strong for small and mid caps on monday as on friday at the closing session strong buying is seen.
I would like to have your super advice on dolat investments and karuturi networks

    ReplyDelete
  175. Hi Superstar,

Thanks for all the advice. I have bought some Cybermate Infotek stock on your recommendation. I have RPL @ 196 rs. I am in a dilemma whether to sell RPL and invest that money in Cybermate Infotek. Do you think its a good idea?

    ReplyDelete
  176. Hi Vipin,
Checked the fundamentals and charts of Kohinoor broadband. Not bad. I'd say it will be a buy on dips.

    Hi Tan,
While I would exit Karuturi without thinking twice, Dolat looks interesting. I would not buy it just yet, but would keep a watch on it. The charts are telling me that Dolat is not done yet.

    Hi sandeep,
Cybermate Infotek and RPL are vastly different companies. If we are talking in terms of absolute returns here, Cybermate may give faster returns, but RPL also looks like a hold on the charts. I'd suggest you keep 50% of your RPL and convert the rest half in Cybermate Infotek.

    Cheers!

I have 100 TFCI @ 19.00. Please advice should I hold for MT or sell?
    -Bharat

    ReplyDelete
  178. Hi Docman,
You can hold TFCI with a stop loss (profit lock in your case)of 40. It may still make new highs once the sentiment for small caps recovers. Although the fundamentals of the stock are not appealing to me, the charts look good.

    Cheers!

  179. Hi Superstar

Iam holding RamaNewsprint and Mid day Multimedia. What are the prospects of these 2 stocks.

  180. Hi Superstar;
Kindly suggest on mercator lines at current levels? Is it a good scrip for a decent investment with a perspective of 2 yrs?And also your opinion about gmr infra & hotel leela with a long term horizon.
    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  181. Hi Anuj,

Both Rama Newsprint and Mid-day Multimedia's profits fell in the Sept,07 qtr as compared to previous year. Mid-day, in fact, posted a loss in the last reported quarter. I would exit both immediately and invest in some better profit making companies.

    Cheers!

  182. i think that operator is very active on this stock either he want to buy this stock in large quantity or he want to offload his entire holding because both today and yesterday many times it happens that there were buyres of more than 10 lacs share @ 15 and very very less buyers @ 15.01. but i had full faith in superstar. even i borrowed 55 thousand @ 3.5% pm to buy cybermate. long live superstar

    ReplyDelete
  183. Hi Siddharth,
Mercator Lines can definitely be bought if it hits couple of more Lower circuits with a two year horizon. That share has some value. I had advised a sell on GMR Infra at 250 levels at this very board recently. It is now at 218. That stock is kept up only due to the buzz of IPO of GMR Energy. It can be bought on dips for a bounce, but there are a lot better buys available in the market. Hotel Leela also I would not advise for fresh buys at the current levels.

    Hi Vipin,
I have never advocated borrowing money to play in the stock markets. That's not a wise thing to do and you do that at your own risk. Never invest beyond your means.
As far as Cybermate Infotek is concerned, I just read a message on moneycontrol by a fellow boarder that it was the last stock to start correcting in this mayhem in the mid-small caps and the first one to show signs of recovery. Such has been its strength. Some other stocks in the small caps space which were going up for no rhyme or reason without any fundamentals have gone down as much as 65-70% from their peaks (and deservedly so). Cybermate Infotek has just had a very mild correction. And I hope it stays that way.

    Cheers!

  184. Hi Superstar;
Thanks for your suggestion, really appreciate that. Can you recommend me a good infra scrip with a long term perspective & also the prospects of paramount communications??

  185. Hi Vipin,

I dont think Borrowing is a good option for share trading..! Its a little risky investment, I will advise to not to borrow any money for share trading. Sensex is much volatile now a days.
Anyways .. just a though and my opinion.
    Thanks
    Rajeev

  186. Thankyou rajeev for your concern. definitely follow your advice in future. i had lost 6 lacs in f&o only in four months. so i want to try at my level best to cover it up.

  187. hello superstar,
    good day!
want your expert opinion on silverline technology and gmdc
    Thanks in advance

  188. Hello Vipin,

Oh,.... you lost a big amount. Sorry brother but dont panic..! Being a small invester, My whole investement is less than your lost amount. I also lost some profit of around 1.6 lakhs in last 8 working days but no worries. Market will bound back and never ever panic in this game. Even if you are loosing money, just relaxed and watch b,caz you are not even able to sell your shares, no buyers. Mr. Bacchan said (when he was trapped in bofors, his films were flopped, his brother also trapped) once in an interview "When R**e is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it" Just relaxed and watch. Things will come into our favour but with the time. Us heading towards recession, more fed rates cut expected. So FII will have to invest in Indain and chinease market. You may see a new hights of sensex in next 1 year. Wait for just another 6 months. Sensex is expected to be volatile till budget. Atleast next 3 months. But specific stocks with strong fundamenatls will grow, may be less growth is expected for next 2 months but growth will be there.
    Best wishes..
    Hello Navin,
Any clue on Tata Motors. looks like it should touch new heigths in next 1 year? What is your opinion and what shoudl be the buying price.
    Thanks
    Rajeev

  189. I agree Rajiv, everyday I see my portfolio profits decrease by 20g, which pulls you down.

If you look at the two sharp falls in 2007 and look at the high that the stocks were still able to make at the end of the year, you will stop worrying. The market went crazy in nov-dec especially for the small & mid caps, hence this was bound to correct. The prices in some scripts are still not realistic but it has averaged the steep curve from Oct end to Jan start. Just relax and it will be back to square one in 2 months time if you have invested in good stocks with strong fundamentals and good future prospects.

  190. Hi Siddharth,
I do not track Paramount Com actively so can't comment off the cuff. You can keep checking this site for new investment tips.

    Hi Tan,
GMDC is a good Hold for long term. I do not track stocks like Silverline and Pentamedia.

    Hi Rajeev,
I like Tata Motors at current levels and it can be a good long term buy at around 700.

  191. Hi SuperStar,
We greatly appreciate your patience. I am pretty new to stock market. I just wanted to know what is mean by fundamentals, When u say fundamentals are strong? how to check them. I hope it will be helpful for any beginners. You can even give a trusted link to study about it.

  193. any one have idea of cybermat's ipo price n if year 2 ??????

    ReplyDelete
  194. Hi Ramana,
By Fundamentals we usually refer to the Financials of the company. Always look at the price of a stock in relation to its earnings and growth prospects. Always check the PE and PEG ratios before investing. You can find more information on them if you google the words.

    Hi Krunal,
You can hold Cybermate Info with a stop loss of 14. Let us first see how it performs in terms of earnings in the next 2-3 quarters, then we'll think about two years.

    Cheers!

PS: This thread is full to the brim now and I'm making a new Guest tips thread. Post further comments there.
